レーザープラズマ分光分析法に関して解説を行った.短パルスのレーザーを固体に集光すると高温高密度のprimary plasmaが生成され,このprimary plasmaから原子は高速で噴出し雰囲気ガスと衝突してsecondary plasmaが作られその発光が分光分析に利用できる.secondary plasmaの生成には衝撃波が関与していることを実証する実験を挙げ衝撃波モデルを説明した.実際の分析応用を行うにあたって重要な問題である,スペクトルのバックグラウンド,ミスマッチング効果,標準化法を取りあげ概説した.ミスマッチング効果はレーザープラズマ分光分析で起こる独特の現象であり,これは衝撃波モデルで説明できること,また,それゆえに固体中に不純物として存在する水素は,高いガス圧雰囲気下で発光効率が極端に低下することを述べた.レーザープラズマ分光分析の装置や応用例に関しても簡単に触れた.
