Time slot assignment is essential to provide the required bandwidth in CDMA (Code Division Multiple Access)/TDMA (Time Division Multiple Access) ad hoc networks, which are a focus of attention of this paper because of its collision-free packet transmission with QoS support. In this paper, on the basis of analyzing the existing works on time slot assignment, proposed is a new time slot assignment algorithm called SAP (Slot Assignment by Priority) by which more available bandwidth can be obtained than conventional approximate solutions and much less time is consumed than the optimal method. The algorithm of SAP is given by the principles, steps, flow chart and programming language description. Moreover, SAP's effectiveness is proved by simulation results.
