Providing sufficient bandwidth for multimedia applications in ad hoc networks is an urgent task because of the rising popularity of multimedia applications and potential commercial usage of ad hoc networks. Time slot assignment for maximum bandwidth of a route for a flow is an unavoidable problem in a slotted ad hoc network, which is drawing more and more attention because of its collision-free packet transmission. However, the existing algorithms do not consider mutual interference from other flows and they are based on undirected links in wireless ad hoc networks. We firstly clarify the importance of the consideration of the mutual interference between the concerned route and other routes and the direction of links. Here, we propose optimal time slot assignment with directed links considering all mutual interference, which is expected to enlarge available route bandwidth for a flow in comparison with the conventional algorithms. Finally, the effectiveness of our proposal is proved by simulation results.
