The author reported an English class support system for students who lacked basic English capabilities and hence could not master English only within school hours in the past. Many students cannot reach the passing grade because they are poor in their records or cannot secure required hours of attendance. Many of them do not know exactly about their current records and hours of attendance. If they do, they will be motivated to study harder and attend more classes to reach the passing grade. Conventionally, students' records have been put up on the wall, which is no longer an easy matter according to the Act on the Protection of Personal Information. The purpose of my work was to develop and evaluate a system for notifying students of their current records/hours of attendance every moment to motivate them to study harder for reaching the passing grade and for allowing students to do assignments on-line. And the purpose of this paper is to report on my work. The system is designed by CGI (Common Gateway Interface) programs and the validity of the system is evaluated by questionnaires to students. As a result, approximately 94% students answered that the system was somewhat or completely helpful. The author concludes that the developed on-line system was helpful for the majority of students according to the results of the questionnaires. Some students were found to be motivated by the on-line information to study English harder. However, there is still some room for improvement, for example, in the legibility of characters on the screen and information on assignment submission records.
