Thirty-fold diluent of 6% Ouren aqueous extract was found to inhibit development of CPE of HSV infection in SIRC (cells derived from rabbit cornea) up to the 7th day. Ocular instillation of 30-fold diluent of 6% aqueous extract of Ouren was proven to be effective by a clinical scoring method in HSV-infected rabbit cornea when administered five times daily.
