Fibromuscular Dysplasia : A Histopathological Study

Histopathological findings of three cases of fibromuscular dysplasia are reported. Case 1 was an 11-year-old female with perimedial fibroplasia of the right renal artery. Case 2 was a 28-year-old female with perimedial fibroplasia of the left renal artery. Case 3 was a 48-year-old female with perimedial fibroplasia of the left internal carotid and right renal arteries. Unusual complications were observed in case 1 (dissecting aneurysm) and case 3 (atherosclerosis in the left internal carotid artery). The significance of extrarenal fibromuscular dysplasia is discussed.
