The solubility product constants, K_<sp> of M(EX)_2 in which EX^- means that ethylxanthate ion, C_2H_5OCS_2^-, was determined by taking the sub-reactions into consideration. In order to determine K_<sp> of the M(EX)_2, the method of solubility in an excess of metal ion was examined. K_<sp> for Pb(EX)_2, Cd(EX)_2, Cu(EX)_2, Ni(EX)_2 and Zn(EX)_2 were calculated to be 1.1×10^<-15>, 8.6×10^<-15>, 2×10^<-14>, 1.8×10^<-12> and 3×10^<-8> at 25℃ and at an ionic strength, μ 1.0 respectively. Comparing the values of K_<sp> with K_1, the stability constant of 1 : 1 complex cation, M(EX)^+, it became evident that K_1 decreased with the increase of K_<sp>. From ESR measurement of the reaction product between Cu(I) ion and dixanthogen in benzen solution, the formation of Cu(II) xanthate was confirmed.
