The influence of an addition of nickel on the thermal expansion in the range from 10 to 50°, rigidity modulus at 20°and its temperature coefficient in the range from 20 to 50°of the alloys of cobalt, iron and vanadium has been determined with the alloys containing 9.1 per cent, 20 per cent and 30 per cent of nickel. The relations between those properties of nickel-added alloys and the concentrations are qualitatively almost similar to those of the ternary alloys of cobalt, iron and vanadium. The addition of nickel affects the coefficient of thermal expansion and the temparature coefficient of rigidity modulus of the ternary alloys, as if cobalt can be substituted by nickel ; that is, the compositions, at which the thermal expansion coefficient shows the smallest value and the temperature coefficient of rigidity modulus the largest positive value, shift to the side of low cobalt content with the addition of nickel. And, when nickel is added, the concentration range having the positive temperature coefficient of the modulus becomes wider and the change of the coefficient with the concentration smaller.
