With a view to acquiring the thermodynamical data on solid nickel sulphide ores, the reduction equilibria of nickel sulphides prepared in the laboratory by hydrogen gas were measured with the aid of flow method. From a point of view of phase diagram, Ni_7S_6 and Ni_3S_2, the former being stable at lower temperatures and the latter at higher temperatures, were employed as the samples. Measurements were made of the equilibrium constants for the reduction of Ni_7S_6 by hydrogen In the temperature range 342°〜414℃. The equations for the temperature dependence of the equilibrium constant and standard free energy change in the reaction from the experimental results were obtained as follows : 3/4 Ni_7S_6+H_2=7/4 Ni_3S_2+H_2S ; Chemical formula By combining these equations with those of hydrogen sulphide gas, the dissociation pressure and standard free energy change in the reaction of Ni_7S_6 were represented as a function of temperature by the following equations within the temperature range described above : 3/2 Ni_7S_6=7/2 Ni_3S_2+S_2 ; Chemical formula Similarly, from the experimental results determined in the temperature range 583°〜727℃ with respect to Ni_3S_2, the following equations were obtained : 1/2 Ni_3S_2+H_2=3/2 Ni(β)+H_2S ; Chemical formula Ni_3S_2=3Ni(β)+S_2 ; Chemical formula.
