Present study deals with the observations of the form and the surface structures of the pollen grains in dicot plants (28 orders, 58 families and 175 species) through SEM. The results shown in the tables and the figures, are the following: 1. The pollen grains of dicot plants took the form of spindle, ellipsoid, globe and pyramidal in the dehydrated state. Among them, ellipsoid form was the greatest in number. 2. Many species had three germination furrows, showing the characterization of the pollen grains in dicot plants. 3. As to the size of pollen grains, the majority was minute sized, 39μ ≧ in length. 4. The surface structures of the pollen grains were reticulum, fovea, granula, spine and linear, and the reticulum structure was the greatest in number. 5. The process of evolution was taken into considerations concerning the surface structure and the morphology of the pollen grains.
