This is a report on how our students promoted their understanding of important but abstract questions lying in nursing through a class applying buzz sessions. The students of the class were separated into 9-10 groups of 4-5 members in each group. The class was carried out with repeating buzz sessions, role plays of a nurse and a child, or class discussions on supposed scenes on which children may need some assistance for promoting their development. Through this class, the students were aimed to study how to assist children's development, and what the proper activities for assistance should be. In comparison to a common class of mostly giving lectures, this class is believed to have been much more helpful to the students with the following results. (1) The students have learnt to examine the problems they will probably face at nursing from diverse points of view, and also have got a proper understanding that there are more than one source of children's problem behaviors. (2) The students have deepened their comprehension of "giving assistance to children" and have increased their ability to think out some proper means of assistance. (3) The students have got a clear understanding of technical knowledge that they had already studied and had partly mis- or vaguely understood. It seems that the students enjoyed studying with much interest without any whispering or dozing all through the class.
