Rotational Energy Transfer in A^2Σν'=0 State of OH in Flame : On the Use of Laser-Induced Fluorescence Spectrum for Flame Temperature Measurement

Experiment and simulation of the population distribution over the rotational levels of OH (A^2Σν'=0) in an atmospheric pressure flame, following laser excitation of one of these rotational levels, are described. The measured distribution can be quantitatively understood on the basis of the energy-transfer rates reported previously. A method for determining flame temperatures from the Baser-induced fluorescence spectra is discussed.
