Using the streak interferometric method, we have made time-resolved electron density measurements on Kr-F_2-He mixtures excited by a short pulsed electric discharge in the pressure range appropriate for rare-gas-halides lasers. The observed rise and decay are found to be determined mainly by ionization of Kr atoms and electron attachment by F_2 molecules, respectively. The rate for the latter process is obtained from a comparison of the experiment with the simulation calculation.
