Chiral materials are noncentrosymmetric due to handedness in their microstructures. The elastic field behavior in a chiral medium can be easily described using governing equations and constitutive relations for noncentrosymmetric, isotropic micropolar materials. In this study, reflection and transmission characteristics of layered chiral media bounded by two semi-infinite achiral media for normally incident longitudinal waves are investigated. A matrix-propagating method for determining the scattering matrix of layered chiral media is elucidated. Scattering characteristics of four-layer chiral media are simulated and verified.
