The electromechanical coupling factor k is obtained by measurements of resonance and antiresonance frequencies in the admittance-frequency characteristics. However it is known that sample shape influences the admittance-frequency characteristics. In this work, the effects of the sample shape on the measurement were analysed by the finite-element method. As a result, it was confirmed that in the transverse expansion mode, (31) mode, of a rectangular plate, a sample shape for which the length (direction of vibration) was more than 5 times the width was appropriate for measurements. On the other hand, in the longitudinal expansion mode, (33) mode, of a bar, a sample shape for which the length was more than 1.6 times the diameter was appropriate for measurements.
