Doping of Phosphoric Acid into Ferroelectric Triglycine Sulfate Crystal

Single crystals of phosphoric-acid-doped triglycine sulfate (TGSP) were grown from solutions with variouse concentrations of H_3PO_4. The concentration of dopant in the crystal and the P-E hysteresis loop have been investigated. The concentration in the crystal is much lower than that in solution. The incorporation of H_3PO_4 molecule is highly inhomogeneous in the crystal and depends on the crystal growth sector. The doping generates no internal bias field and has no influence on the spontaneous polarization. Since the incorporated H_3PO_4 molecules act as obstacles to polarization switching, doping results in an the increase in coercive field E_c. There is a distinct correlation between the intensity of E_c and the concentration of H_3PO_4 in the crystal.
