For the feasibility study of the availability of a different-material-laminated spacecraft bumper, double-layered plate targets with the combination of an aluminum sheet and a copper one were prepared and impacted by glass microprojectiles at the velocity of 4 km/s. The morphology of target perforation and debris dispersion were investigated with respect to their dependence on material discontinuity in the target. Obvious difference was observed experimentally in the perforation and debris dispersion at the discontinuity. The difference was discussed qualitatively according to one-dimensional analysis of shock compression and pressure release in the target.
