According to prior researches in information systems (IS) area, success or performance of end user computing (EUC) have been affected by many organizational factors as well as EUC factor itself. In particular, organizational factors and official EUC training provided have significant impact on EUC success. Although this fact seems to be acknowledged well among IS department in Japanese industries, the level of success or failure ranged widely and it is rather astounding. To exemplify or verify this rule, we conducted a survey research in Japanese business setting. We found that the relationships between EUC training, organizational structural factors and EUC success are rather complex. We measured statistical relationships between organizational structural variables, i. e. centralization and formalization, and EUC success, as well as EUC training and EUC success, and found they are faint. However if we check on their cross effect on EUC success, we found significant relationships. This research result emphasizes implicit and potential but important influence of organizational factors on EUC success.
