The electrophoretic mobility of diploid cells, haploid cells of different mating types, their cell walls, asci, and ascospores of Saccharomyces cerevisiae was measured with a free-flow electrophoretic apparatus. Haploid a-cells and ascospores exhibited higher mobility than diploid cells, haploid a-cells, and asci. Similar differences in mobility were found with isolated cell walls of the haploid and diploid cells.
