Excised winter wheat embryos were cold-treated in White's medium containing 2% sucrose for 60 days at 4℃. Embryos could be vernalized in medium containing sugar, whereas the addition of 8-azaguanine to the medium at the concentration of 10^<-4> M inhibited vernalization.
