Thiol groups in chloroplasts were determined in the dark and in the light. The content of thiol groups increased with illumination. This formation of thiol groups was inhibited by inhibitors of the Hill reaction. Pyocyanine, a cofactor of the cyclic electron flow, stimulated the light-induced formation of thiol groups.
