A new chromone, named sophorachromone A (I), mp 138-139℃, C_<19>H_<22>O_4,and a new flavanone, named sophoraflavanone A (II), mp 144-145℃, C_<25>H_<28>O_5,were isolated together with isosophoranone (III) from the root of Sophora tomentosa L. (Leguminosae). The structures of I and II were established to be 8-geranyl-5,7-dihydroxychromone and 6-geranyl-5,7,4'-trihydroxyflavanone, respectively, on the basis of chemical and spectral evidence.
