Observations were carried out on the brood development, feeding habits, adult activities and related problems of a small carpenter bee, Ceratina (Ceratina) megastigmata in central and northern Honshu. The high brood mortality under all temperature conditions except 26℃ is noticeable. Five nests containing two females in brood rearing period are recorded and the relations between cohabiting females in these nests are discussed. The longevity of some females is very long and the brood rearing in the second and third years by old females was confirmed. A part of new adults emerged in late summer are inseminated in autumn before hibernation. Ovaries begin to develop in the inseminated new adults, before hibernation, with some individuals possessing well developed ovaries. Flower visits and natural enemies are briefly noted.
