Nests of Bombus honshuensis are first described. Some important characters such as nesting sites, egg cells, feeding pockets, batch arrangement, batch size, and colony size are comparatively discussed. Most of these characters in the present species coincide with those in Japanese and European consubgeners as follows : 1) Preference for surface nesting sites. 2) Only mild attack at nest removal. 3) Absence of wax nest envelope. 4) Egg cells relatively flat, built separately at niches or on the tops of cocoons and not primed with pollen. 5) Presence of feeding pockets for both worker and sexual broods. 6) Batch arrangement basically rosette like. 7) Colony size relatively small, the number of total cocoons about 200.
