Goldfish were transferred from fresh water into 1/4 seawater; gobies were transferred from seawater into fresh water. In both experiments, the changes in the levels of serum divalent ions (Ca, Mg) were different from those in serum monovalent ions (Na, Cl) in the process of adaptation.
