The latent addition of the heart muscle strip, prepared from the cardiac ventricle of Bufo vulgaris was determined by two succeeding subthreshod stimulations. The authors found that it is about 25 msec. If the conditioning stimulation is selected weaker than 30% of the normal threshold, the excitability curve decreases exponentially. But when the conditioning current is strengthened more than 35%, there appears non-conducted local response, so that the excitability curves become nonexponential. It is supposed that when such local response develops enough, it becomes propagated disturbance.
