Connectin an Elastic Protein from Myofibrils and Sarcolemma of Frog Skeletal Muscle(短報)

Skinned fibers of bullfrog skeletal muscle were completely dissolved in 0.5-1% sodium dodecyl sulfate (SDS) except for some elastic sturctures of sarcolemma. This observation suggests that connectin nets in myofibrils are soluble in SDS, whereas those in the cell membrane are not. The SDS-soluble and insoluble connctins were prepared from isolated pure myofibrils and fiber fragments of bullfrog skeletal muscle. The amino acid compositions of all the connectin preparations were quite similar to each other. We suggest that the elastic protein connectin in myofibrils and in sarcolemma is the same protein.
