Inability of Brain Microtubules to Cause Cleavage Induction in Oryzias latipes Eggs

Tubulin was obtained from porcine or rabbit brain tissue, and microtubules were reassembled from the tubulin in reassembly buffer. The tubulin or microtubules were injected into unfertilized mature eggs of Oryzias latipes. The eggs responded to injection by cortical reaction but not by astral formation and cleavage initiation. This failure to induce cleavage seems to be due to the condition and nature of microtubules injected into the egg cytoplasm.
