In this paper, we present an implementation of modem ASIC for CDMA/FM dualmode cellular mobile phone. The modem ASIC integrates CDMA modem core, 16-bit microcontroller, and 16-bit fixed-point DSP for voice coding/decoding and digital FM processing. This chip contains 174,000 gates, 64Kb SRAMs and 344Kb ROMs, and is fabricated using a 0.6μm CMOS technology.
