In the previous paper it has been reported that sulfhydryl compounds and sodium bisulfite are the antagonists of synthetic vitamin K compounds. In this paper the results of the studies on some factors which affect the antibiotic action of VK, VK-Na-bisulfite and VK_5 are presented.1) When the test substance was added to glucose-salt medium, peptone or casein hydrolyzate interfered with the antibiotic action of the VK compounds remarkably, but glutamic and aspartic acids very slightly; the other amino acids and growth-stimulating factors tested did not interfere at all.2) Neither of ribo- and desoxyribo-nucleic acid interfered with the action of the compounds.3) Phospholipids such as cephalin and lecithin slightly decreased the action of the compounds.4) Aerobic gram-positive bacteria were inhibited by the low concentration of the compounds, while many species of gram-positive bacteria which acquire most of their energy by lactic acid fermentation and aerobic gram-negative ones could grow in the presence of the compounds.5) The antibiotic action of the compounds was not influenced by pH value of the medium.
