The transcriptional initiation sites for the kanamycin resistance genes of pUB110 and pTHN1 were determined. The transcriptional initiation site was located 120 bp upstream of the first nucleotide of the translational initiation codon for both genes. There was a consensus -10 sequence upstream of the transcriptional initiation site, but no sequance similar to the consensus -35 sequence.
