The positional specificity of microbial lipases was studied by a method based on the measurement of diglyceride (DG) isomers in their reaction products using a TLC-autodetector and calculation of a positional specificity index defined as follows : PSI=[1,2(2,3)DG-1,3DG-1,3DG×2]×100/[1,2(2,3)DG+1,3DG×2]. Microbial lipases were classified into three groups, i.e. a-specific, non-specific and intermediary groups.
