Methyl esters of 3-epi-GA_3 and 3-epi-GA_1 were efficiently pre-pared from methyl esters of GA_3 and GA_1, respectively, by highly selective epimerization of the 3-hydroxyl function with a base in a low-polar aprotic medium.
