Experiments were carried out for natural and forced convection of liquid metal in a cylindrical crucible with a rotational magnetic field A gallium melt in the crucible was heated at the sidewall and cooled at the upper surface This crucible was set into a magnetic coil unit and the velocity in the melt was measured for several values of the rotational frequency and flux density of the magnetic field The rotational magnetic force affects the melt flow and the temperature distribution by the Lorentz force in a crucible.
