Two-dimensional numerical computations were carried out in order to examine the effect of magnetizing force for the air in a cylindrical container with the stagnant conduction state. The model system of the present calculation is shown schematically in Fig. A. Computational parameters are Pr=0.71 and Ra=×(10)^3. The strength of the applied magnetic field was set at γ=50. Sample computations were carried out by changing the relative orientation of an electric coil and container. In a gravitational field, the airflow was induced by the magnetizing force, and flow pattern greatly depended on the axial position of the coil as seen in Fig. B. Moreover, numerical computations in a non-gravitational field were carried out to clarify the effect of magnetizing force alone for pr=0.71,γRa=2.5×(10)^5 and Z_<co>=0. H, 2H.[figure]
