This paper describes the influence of through-flow on the mixed convection in a rectangular slender channel. In a rectangular enclosure, the convection structure most often observed is rolls with axes parallel to the smaller side of the rectangular enclosure. If a through-flow is imposed on such convection, the fluid flows keeping its structure in the region that Ra number is large and Re number is small. In such a mixed convection, the flow pattern plays an important role in the heat transfer process. In this study, the flow- visualization by thermo-sensitive liquid crystal suspension method and the numerical simulation were conducted covering wide Ra and Re ranges. Consequently, the convection pattern was classified into three patterns by use of Ra and Re numbers.
