The flow resistance correlation of wire nets over a wide range of Reynolds numbers has been presented from the viewpoint of thermal design of electronic equipment casings where wire meshes are often used in the outlet and inlet vents to prevent dust from entering the casings. The flow resistance coefficient correlation for wire nets obtained in the Reynolds number range of natural air convection was proposed using reduced resistance coefficient C and Reynolds number Re_1 (based on the velocity passed through the wire net and the wire diameter) as parameters. The results are plotted in the same figure along with those obtained for the larger range of Reynolds numbers, such as forced air flow and water flow, reported by other researchers. Two correlations for flow resistance coefficients of wire nets in a wide range of Reynolds numbers are proposed.
