In the MHD (Magneto Hydro Dynamics) Generator electric power is extracted through the interaction of high speed electrically conducting fluid with the magnetic field. The electrical properties of the fluid depends strongly on the flow and thermal behavior of the fluid. In order to improve the efficiency of the MHD generator it is very much necessary to have a clear understanding of the flow behavior in the generator channel. In the present work, three-dimensional N-S and energy equation for compressible fluid along with the electric potential and transport equations for plasma are solved using Beam-Warming Scheme. MUSCL type TVD scheme is used for shock capturing and low Reynolds number two-equations k-ε turbulence model developed by the author is used to consider the turbulence characteristics. The results of calculation showed a very good agreement with the experimental results and helped to have a clear understanding of the flow behavior and the related plasma characteristics.
