Magnetic Excitations in the Si Doped Spin-Peierls Compound CuGe_1-xSi_xO_3

The magnetic excitations of CtrGej .Si.O3 single crystals (.r : 0.011 and 0.03) have beenstvrdued by inelastrc neutron-scattering techniqtres. We confirm the coexistence of the antiferro-magnetic and spin-Peierls excitations as well as a splitting of the antiferromagnetic excitationpeak at the magnetic zone center (q : O) due to orthorhombic anisotropy. The q dependenceof the antiferromagnetic spin-wave width F scales well with q' for sunall q (q< 0.1 A '), Wealso find that the spin-wave velocity increases as the size of induced magnetic moment becomeslarger. These experimental restults strongly strpport recent theoretical predictions by Saito andFukuyama.
