Magnetism and Magnetic Interaction in a Complex Oxide Glass System Containing Deposited Clusters of Magnetite at the Superparamagnetic State

A series of oxide glasses rich 111 Fe and Fe" xvitla their variotts tnolar ratio hats been syn2-l-thesized, and the taaagnetic behaviors have been studied by static naagnetization and ESR experitnents. Near rootn tetnperatture, sttperparataaagnetic behavior is caused by deposited fine(40 -50 A) clusters of' iron-oxides, At lower teraaperattrres, thotrgh, xve observe drastic descendingshift of the field for BSR as well as ferrounagnetic Ctrrie-Weiss law in the strsceptibility. Weinterpret these behaviors consistently by a classical tnodel, taking into account only 2111 effectiveinteraction between the clusters and the magnetic naatrix region. For the glasses of unoderate oxidation grades (nuolar rartio of Fe" to total Fe is in 0.39 -0.66), each shifting ESR field also showsa peak anozaaaly near 100 K catrsed Joy Verwey transition of uaaagnetite cltrsters. Verwey transitionis observed evidently for the super fine cltrsters owing to the protection against oxidation in theglasses.
