A mass-weighted mean compressible turbulence model is presentcd with tlte aid ofthe results from a two-scale DIA. This model aims at dealing with two typical aspectsin compressible flows: the interaction of a shock wave with turbulence in high-speedflows and strong buoyancy effects in thermally-driven flows as in stellar convectionand conflagration. The former is taken into account tltrough the effect of turbulentdilatation that is related to the density fluctuation and leads to the enhanced kineticenergy dissipation. The latter is incorporated through the interaction between thegravitational and density-fluctuation effects.
