Analysis is made of inhomogeneous turbulent diffusion of a passive scalar in thepresence of mean scalar and velocity fields. A general expression is found forthe scalar-velocity covariance by means of the statistical approach to inhomo-geneous turbulence recently developed by the author. Using the expression, themean scalar field in wall turbulence is examined to find the logarithmic scalarprofile, with good agreement with experimental findings,
