The two-dimensional Toda lattice equation is reduced to the K-dV equation by atransformation including arbitrary parameters. This transformation naturally con-Cains Saitoh's transformation connecting the Toda lattice and tlte K-dV equation. It isalso studied how the discrete Zakharov-Shabat inverse scattering transformation for-malism for 2D Toda lattice equation is representecl by this transformation.
