The crystals of Tl.PbCu(hJ0z)5 and Rb.PbCu(NO.), undergo two phasetransitions successively due to cooperative Jahn-Teller effect. The property of thesetransitions is studied by X-ray measurements. It has been shown that the inter-mediate phases of both substances have the sinusoidally modulated structures.The modulation wave vector lies along the [110] direction. The value of the wavevector changes smoothly when the temperature is varied, which confirms that theperiodicity of the intermediate phases of these substances is incommensurableto the original lattice.
