The long-range interaction potentials between He' (2'P, 3'P) and electrons,protons as well as neutral spherically-sytnmetric atoms are calculated using oscil-lator strength, the expectation value of r' for Ile" and the polarizabilities of theinert gas atoms. The potentials are attractive in the neutral aton'xic case. They arefound {.o have a strong anisotropy in tire ease of a j>oint charge, being attractiveor repulsive according to the magnetic quantum nurruber of the ]le' state. This information shotzld prove useful in research involving tlae collision pro-cesses c>f optically-allowed excited He.
