A cotaaptrter siraatrlation of' rnolectrlar dynartaics is carried otrt to study the effects of a sigma 5twist botrtadary on the forznation of displacezment dauaaage cascades in silver. When a displacementdautaage cascstde forms near the botrndary, interstitial atotaas are attracted and segregate onthe botrndary. The number of Frenkel defects after the forunation of dautaage cascade near thebotrndary is naore thatn that in a perfect cr3'stal. The segregation of interstitial ?rtotns is dtre tothe interaction xvith the botrndary throttgh tlte strain field. The unovement of interstitial cltrstersin a strain field is due to a (110) crowdion naigration. The larger interstitial cltrsters are attractedto the boundary at the larger separation. XV1aen a daraaage cascade f'orttas on the boundary, thecrystal strtrcttrre of sigraaa 5 botrndary is uaaodified dtrring the solidification of its naolten core. The segregation of interstitial atozaas on ststcking fault and twin botrndary on the forrnation ofdaraaage cascade xvas also sttudied. The segregation of interstitial to these defect planes duringthe fornaation of d?ttnage cascade was not obserxxed. The preferential segregation of' interstitialand vacancy on these planes is due to a strong trapping of point defects on these planes.
