Emission Cross Sections of Ar^+ Measured in a Wide Range of Electron Impact Energies

Under a condition of single electron-atona collision, the etaaission cross sections for 4p-)4stransitions producing Ar" laser emissions were rne?tsured xvith electron impact energies up to1000 eV. It was found that all the transition lines measttred showed E ' dependence, whichsuggests that the syunnaetry forbidden excitation are critical at high energies. The emission crosssections are compared and discttssed with reported values, inclvrding a newly rneasured value of'the 514.5 nm line.
