Renormalization Group Treatment of Three-Dimensional Turbulence

The renormalization group treatment applied to three-dimensional turbulence is ex-amined carefully. It is shown that the renormalization process is completely differentdepending on whether ltA<< k or k<< iA when the wavenumber components betweenA and A - iA are eliminated in the Navier-Stokes equations for wavevector A. Whenl5A<< k, which seems to be a natural condition, is assumed, the new triple interactionsin addition to the ones by Zhou, Vahala and llossain (Phys. Rev. A37 (1988) 2590)are found to be indispensable. The obtained viscosity is in good agreement with theone reached by Yaklaot and Orszag (J. Sci. Comput. l (1986) 3), who did choose aparameter z=0 instead of e=4, a honest value. Thex'x, t]?e reasonable numbers arepredicted for the Kolntogorov constant and the coefficient of the viscosity.
