Hydrogen Coverage on W(001)Surface as a Dynamical System

Time evolution of hydrogen coverage on a well defined tungsten surface detectedby the nuclear reaction is discussed. A difference equation is proposed to describe acompetition between the adsorption and desorption processes. 0vershoot and oscillalion behaviors in the time variation of the hydrogen coverage are explained. A quan-tutative agreement between the experimental and theoretical results is observed.
