Preferred Orientation Relationship between B1 and Induced B2 Structures of BaS under Hydrostatic plus Uniaxial Pressures

At the Bl-to-B2 phase transition of BaS induced under pressure, the preferredorientation relationship, (A) (100)..,/'(111)..and (B) (111)..//(100).., holds as in thecase of alkali halides. With an additional uniaxial compression, another type of rela-tionship, (A) (100)..7 (Ill)., and (C) (010)..// (101).., holds, where the uniaxial cornpression may be applied either in the direction of [100].. or [0103... Since (A) and (B)is deduced from (A) and (C), the latter relationship seems to be more fundamental.
